DIFFERENCE. Ordinary exercise will take up most of your energy and will most likely result in tightening of the muscles. In Yoga you are gaining the energy not losing it, making your body stronger and more flexible. Ordinary physical exercises are centered on the external organs. In Yoga special attention is given to the internal organs like the heart and lungs, thus enhancing the creative power of the brain. Asanas (Poses) and Pranayama (Breathing exercise) are known to purify your nerves.
YOGA & RELIGION. The practice of Yoga does not interfere with any religion. Studies show that American Yoga students who have practiced Yoga intensively for many years continue to follow the religious traditions they have grown up in or adopted without conflict.
